Noodler's Polar Green - My Many Muses
Ink

Noodler’s Polar Green

  • Colour: A green teal
  • Special Attributes:
    • Shade: Yes, some good shading.
    • Sheen: Some kind of blue sheen in you try really hard.
    • Shimmer: No.
  • Watercolour Usage: Polar Green is very reactive to water. It will also feather like crazy on all paper except Tomoe River and the likes.
  • Harkens to Mind: Glaciers, shallow ocean pools
  • Similar to: I’m going to have to say once again that all teals are both beloved and mostly exactly the same. This one is the greenest teal I have though.
  • Expense: $15/3oz (~85ml) as of 2022.
  • Example: One of my favourite movies of all time is The Thing and that is exactly what this made me think of. In fact, any time anyone mentions the poles, I think of this movie. So I did a drawing of RJ MacReady.

Verdict

Many Noodler’s inks have an intense feathering problem and Polar Green is no exception. I love it, but I can’t use it on 95% of the papers I have. So it is reserved for Tomoe River paper only. (Seems okay on some onionskin papers too).
