Platinum Lavender Black

  • Colour: Dark pink.
  • Special Attributes:
    • Shade: You can achieve some shading with mostly the help of water.
    • Sheen: None at all really.
    • Shimmer: No.
  • Watercolour Usage: Best used with water if you ask me.
  • Harkens to Mind: Wilting roses, wine stains, I really wouldn’t call it “lavender” at all.
  • Similar to: Pretty much straight pink ink taken to its darkest form.
  • Expense: $30/60ml as of 2022.
  • Example: A silhouette from the late 1800s.

Writing Sample

Verdict

I think this is meant for people who are using their pens in an environment that thinks certain colours are “unprofessional” and yet they still wish to be less boring than black or blue. It’s dark enough in a fine nib that it might not draw much attention, while remaining pretty. I like it for painting because it has a large range of shades once you water it down.

It’s also an iron gall ink, which is a very old method for making inks. I have yet to use it in a pen.
