Waterman’s Skywriter

This is the pen that attracted me to a pack of old pens I found. I love Waterman’s pens ever since I got a 52 as a gift and so I’m always ready to adopt a new one.

When it arrived it had a crispy sac and a hole in the bottom of it for some reason, but the nib looked to be in absolutely fine condition. It was my first dive in to the world of replacing pen parts.

It cleaned up very easily with the new sac, a shine, and some air-drying clay to fill the hole in the end (maybe I’ll try and paint match it someday); and the nib works pretty well despite what looks like a bit of tine separation on the close-up.

I don’t know too much about this pen, but I did find an ad for it. It was targeted to the youth and that explains the lightweightness of it and the lack of gold in the nib. But it’s a fine writing machine and has enough flex to make me happy. I use it really rather often.

Isn’t it funny to think that what was once a boring office supply for children brings me so much joy today? Who am I kidding, current office supplies bring me joy too. I’m an odd one.

Writing Samples

The video is of a different writing sample because I hadn’t yet thought to record my writing.
