I bought these bulbs last year because I was attempting to begin a section of garden for “black” flowers and Landini Lilies are supposed to be such a deep shade of red that they appear black.

I don’t think there’s a possible lighting situation, save for pitch darkness, that would trick the mind in to finding “black” in what actually bloomed. But I still very much adore these gorgeous flowers!

Lilies do so well here that I decided it’s only fair to put them in the garden (though I had them growing in a pot originally) and watch them thrive. They’ve done well to impress me and I love the colour they turned out to be. Just because something isn’t what you expect doesn’t mean you are banned from loving it just the same.

I would still love to have a successful black garden, though. Nothing I’ve tried has bloomed in this bizarre year, though. But will I give up?
