Sailor Studio 280 - My Many Muses
Ink

Sailor Studio 280

  • Colour: A gorgeous warm green with pink undertones.
  • Special Attributes:
    • Shade: Oh yes, and of so many colours.
    • Sheen: None at all.
    • Shimmer: No. It doesn’t even need it.
  • Watercolour Usage: It’s so cool to add water to this ink. The fade to light pink is stunning. It doesn’t grab a lot of ink when water is added, though, so it has some resistance. Easy to fade out completely.
  • Harkens to Mind: Olive drab, pink dahlias, ferns in a shady forest.
  • Similar to: On the surface it kind of looks like Rohrer und Klingner’s Alt-Goldgrun but it becomes something so much better. Robert Oster’s Muddy Grass is also similar on the surface, but the pink shading is unique. This ink is the opposite of Kobe 54 (which goes from a pink-ochre to a green-yellow when shaded).
  • Expense: $18/20ml as of 2022.
  • Example: My favourite ink for my favourite author. Fiona Macleod (in the form of William Sharp).

Writing Sample

Sometimes more green, sometimes more yellow. I have no idea why or how. This is the same paper.

Verdict

Even though it feels like a luxury at such a price point, I hope to never be void of this ink. I keep it in my Lamy 2000 OB and it shows the shading so well.
