Ink

Robert Oster Schwarz Rose

  • Colour: Very very very dark green with pink and blue undertones, black shading, and pink shimmer.
  • Special Attributes:
    • Shade: With big nibs and paint brushes, yes.
    • Sheen: There seems to be a tiny bit of red sheen, but not anything crazy.
    • Shimmer: Yes, pink shimmer.
  • Watercolour Usage: Oh it’s a dream to use with water! That’s they only way I ever want to use it. You can get those greens and pinks to really come through with water. It’s perfect for art.
  • Harkens to Mind: The deep forest, Faerie, December, gothic veils.
  • Similar to: Nothing really like it that I’ve seen. Diamine Evergreen is sort of similar in the green-to-black department. Diamine Black Ivy is a sheeny and not shimmery version of it.
  • Expense: $18/50ml as of 2022.
  • Example: An actress photographed in the late 1800s.

Verdict

When I made the swatch of this, I was delighted; but when I wrote with it is just ends up looking like black ink. I understand that it is Black Rose, but it’s too close to black to interest me in writing.

However, in art? Oh wow it’s unmatched! Look at all the mystery and all the colours hiding beneath the surface!
