Van Dieman’s Pixie Parasols

  • Colour: Very light turquoise
  • Special Attributes:
    • Shade: It does shade nicely.
    • Sheen: None.
    • Shimmer: No.
  • Watercolour Usage: Water blends it out nicely, partly because it it already such a light colour.
  • Harkens to Mind: Whispy clouds, summer (though it is their seasonal autumn ink), bubbles coming up to the surface of the ocean.
  • Similar to: It’s similar to Diamine Beau Blue in the lightness.
  • Expense: $15/30ml as of 2022.
  • Example: All the label of the photograph told me was that this woman was Italian.

Writing Sample

Verdict

This ink is the only one I’ve come across that I think might be too light. Which is bizarre to me because, on the swatch it looks perfectly useable. I put it in a Sailor Shikiori and used a full converter’s worth but, when I look over my writing is it a bit difficult to read.

I switched to a pen with Rohrer & Klingner Cassia when Pixie Parasols ran out. The difference is a good illustration of just how light it is, I think.
